     Due to a very dramatic increase in the price of Sterling Silver, we are sorry to have to stop offering our Words on the Cuff engraved cuffs in this material. We would have had to keep increasing the price of the Sterling Silver, so we decided to stop offering it at this time. If the price drops back to to something reasonable, we will start to offer it again. We are sorry if this causes any inconveniences to anyone who was planning on ordering a Sterling Silver cuff. In the coming weeks, we will be starting to offer Stainless Steel cuffs, however. This material will not tarnish and can go longer without being cleaned than our Brass, Copper, and Nickel Silver. It will be available in 5/8”, 7/8”, 2”, and 4” widths. I will let you know when it’s up on the website!

Hello everyone. Shyla of Bob’s Brass here. I was updating our Facebook page when it hit me, we haven’t had a new blog here in a long time; and I should correct that. So here I am.

The biggest change we have had here at Bob’s Brass is new widths and materials for our engraved cuffs. We’ve already added nickel silver and copper to the lineup of metals, and we are very excited to announce the coming addition of stainless steel. This metal will not tarnish and therefore will need less cleaning and polishing. Right now we are testing it (which involves hammers, paint and determination, lol) and I will let you all know when we have it available for orders. We are also planning on the stainless steel being available in wider cuffs. Currently we have 3/8”, 5/8”, and 1” wide cuffs. The stainless will be available in 5/8”, 7/8”, 2”, and 4”. This allows much more room for any design or phrase you want us to engrave on it. The only limit to what you can have engraved is your own imagination!

We have a lot of shows coming up in the next few months, starting with the 18th Annual Pennsylvania Arts & Crafts Colonial Festival September 2, 3, 4, and 5 2011. This is a fun festival and if you are in the area, you’ll get to see Bob and Wendy of Bob’s Brass in colonial costume! Come to our booth and say hi. The shows this summer have been very much a learning experience for me, as this was my first ever season at art festivals/ street festivals. Bob has over thirty years in doing this, so I was in good hands. The most recent show was in State College, PA and was the absolute best one so far! Hello, everyone. Bob’s Brass has a show in Towson, Maryland this Saturday and Sunday. The Towson Town Spring Festival. If you are around there, come on over and see us! Robert has built a gorgeous display, all the jewelry looks so pretty and sparkly! It’s my first show ever, and I’m glad I’m going with a veteran of the craft show circle. Robert has been doing this for over 30 years! I’ll post updates from the show, and pictures, too.

Our Words on the Cuff line is coming along wonderfully! I will post pictures of them, too. My “employee badge” bracelet is almost done and I will post a picture of that when I get it back (it’s being finished tonight!!). It says “Words on the Cuff” on the outside and “Shyla Dell Casey” on the inside! I just love it. I know pictures can’t show you how these bracelets feel, they are very sturdy with a great heft to them. They are made of solid brass, and solid sterling silver. Wendy engraves them using a deep engraving process, not stamping. Then Robert bends and paints the letters, so they stand out better. See my previous post for some shots of these cuffs.

     We are located in Nashville, North Carolina. Robert makes all our jewelry and uses quality materials, solid brass, copper, nickel and sterling silver. We offer tri-color twist open cuffs and our Words on the Cuff engraved cuffs. We use a deep engraving process on solid brass and sterling silver cuffs that are .375 inches wide (3/8ths of an inch), top to bottom. From the most petite to the largest of wrists, we fit them all.
